Missed the Show? No problem.
With the 6th annual Fall Food Festival, sponsored by Firestone Auto Care, coming up on Wednesday, September 21st (www.restaurantandfoodexpo.com), quite a bit of time is being spent highlighting restaurants that are participating. Interviewed Tim from Jersey Mike’s Sub, Jeff from Crave Real Burgers, Franco from Paravicini’s Italian Bistro, Jeff from Southern Hospitality, Anke from Schnitzel Fritz German Restaurant. Just few of the many that will be passing out samples at the event. More interviews to come over the next few weeks.
Recorded on a couple of new places I tried. In Colorado Springs, had lunch at the Potato House, 2220 Academy Place in a run down strip center just east of Academy Boulevard. Exterior is sad, but owners have done a nice job with the inside. For lunch, had the chicken cordon bleu with potatoes and mushroom gravy. Flavor was good, but served only lukewarm. Place not busy, so no excuse there. Picture of the dish posted for you. Place has no liquor license, and little personality, so hopefully they will work to smooth out the rough edges.
Also, taking a group of listeners to Cuba in April ,so spoke with Darlene Stacie of Red Carpet World Travel about the trip. I took the time to visit the Havana Grill in Highlands Ranch and have the fried chicken with rice and black bean soup. Place was a Denny’s, but has been completely remodeled. Looks great. Half the place looks like a Cuban nightclub (yes, even with the obligatory strobe light ball over the dance floor) and the other half looks like a Cuban restaurant. Not sure why, place wasn’t busy, but plate came out tepid. Places need to serve hot foods hot, and cold foods cold. Have included a picture of the plate.
No movies this week, but did attend the Air Force football game and rooted the Zoomies on to a victory over Abilene Christian University. For reading materials, continue to work my way through Mike Lawson’s Joe DeMarco series. These are great. Losing a lot of sleep.
