RELAXATION AND EDUCATION, LEISURE AND LEARNING!
In early 2021, when the travel agent I had been working with for years arbitrarily cancelled a scheduled group trip I had been promoting to Huatulco, Mexico, it gave me an opportunity to step back, to reflect on what I wanted my group trips to be, where I wanted them to go and what I wanted, for both me and those traveling with me, the trips to provide. I determined that if they could combine, on whatever level the participants wanted, some relaxation, some leisure, but perhaps also some education, some learning, then they, the trips, could go in the direction I hoped for.
So I contacted a long time travel professional, one I had known for years, had worked with before on my personal travel, and asked him if we could reconnect, work together on my groups. Warren Erbsen has over 50 years in the industry. He has owned two large agencies in Denver and Cherry Creek, and eventually merged them with a world wide leader in travel, Altour. He loves the business and the people he comes in contact with. He immediately, without hesitation, said he would be thrilled to handle not only the group travel for my shows, but the smaller, soft adventure groups put together by my daughter with her cultural immersion company called Gusto Mexico.
Although he is capable of handling all sorts of travel, travel to anywhere in the world, I explained that I wasn’t interested in promoting “other” travel as I had drifted in to in my previous arrangement. I would tell him where I wanted to go, and we would put the package together, price it out, and invite listeners to join me. I felt very strongly that the group trips I promoted through my shows should be restaurant show centric. Not necessarily food oriented, but like minded people who had heard about the trips on my shows, knew me and my personality through the shows, what we hope to accomplish as we traveled together.
That’s where relaxation comes in. Let’s go to a beach in Mexico. Easy, nonstop flights out of Denver, quick transfers to an all inclusive, beautiful resort, meals and drinks included. Easy breezy. Lots of leisure, lots of time to recharge our batteries from the hectic lives most of us lead.
But if anyone wants to go off property to perhaps enjoy some of the wonderful history of the country, to learn, to pick up a little education, that can be arranged as well. I have posted some pictures from my group trips as well as smaller group trips with Gusto Mexico. Relaxation, leisure, education, learning. It has been working out GREAT. Love to have you join us.
